Save the existing Timber Lane/Longfellow/McLean School Boundaries!
On May 15, 2025, the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Boundary Committee released three proposed boundary adjustments via their Scenario Explorer Tool. All three scenarios would shift students from a Timber Lane Elementary/Longfellow Middle School/McLean High School (MHS) Pyramid to a Timber Lane Elementary/Luther Jackson Middle School/Falls Church High School (FCHS) Pyramid.
These proposed changes would result in pulling children from their established school communities, diminished equitable access to programs, a significant reduction in property values (estimated up to a 20% drop!), and the overturning of 40+ years of existing boundaries.
The affected families do not support this boundary change.
The community is beginning to organize – flyers, lawn signs, meetings with school board, drafting arguments, etc. We can use any expertise/contacts in policy, local media, local lobbying, etc. Neighbors, please join the Facebook Group for the latest news and to contribute ideas / provide help. On that page, Donations are being collected via Venmo – these funds are being used for flyers, yard signs, web hosting, meeting space reservations, etc.
For media inquiries, questions, comments – please contact: TimberLaneMcleanPyramid@gmail.com
